Feeding Raw Food to Your Cat

Actually, dry crunchy food is horrible for pets that are obligate carnivores (such as cats and ferrets). The teeth of a cat are meant for tearing and cutting, not grinding, so when cats eat kibble, they end up swallowing large chunks. The kibble also does not their teeth any good because only the tips get cleaned. Raw meat goes all the way to the gum line. I could go on and on with the cons of kibble, but this text box only allows me so many characters.

Those cats are in shape, wow very lean. Good job with the kitties and people please don't ask your vet. Your vet makes money selling you crap Science Diet, vets get poor nutrition educating in schools because science diet or purina sponsors this program of their studies. Do you see a lion eating grass or fruits? come on people stop being so naive and read a little. This man has beautiful spoiled cats the way they are supossed to eat.

I've been feeding my cat simba raw meat every day since I got him, he won't touch the caned packet crap, he has not once gotten sick and the vet says he's doing so much better than normal cats due to his diet. Raw meat is the way to go and when you put cost together it's about the same maybe little less.

I am all for Raw feeding, wanting to start this slowly, though am concerned about Campylobacter. This is found on most meats, and can be quite dangerous. So what do you do about it? I know about cats having a short digestive tract, etc. though I know of a cat that got this.

I like your meat cleaver. It cuts meat very fast and efficiently. Where did you buy it?

Love this idea, my only concern is parasites, is there a danger in this with raw meats, especially chicken?

Jeez, they're just cats.. Why is everybody freaking out about people giving their cats dry and or canned food? I've been feeding my cats actual cat food forever. All of them are very healthy and most that I've had have lived up to or past expected life..

they are excited! look at them! =D

@beluank Cats are hardy. If you're worried about yourself, just wash you hands like you should after handling raw meat and scooping cat littler.

@ClarkeReptile Dead on man. My vet even told me that the most ideal diet for a cat is live mice (perferably caged mice though to prevent disease transmission).
I am a activly approve of raw feeding, just...hot water to defrost meat is not good for the meat, it slightly cooks the outside of the flesh and kills some of the taurine in the flesh. Use cold water and have it run over the food instead.
Also consider just giving the cat the whole piece of meat instead of chopping it up. Being able chew, gnaw and bite at their food is a more stimulating experience for it. Just some friendly tips.

The water is only about 100 degrees at most, it's not boiling or anything & won't cause any chemical alteration of the meat.
I tried giving the cats unchopped chicken but they are less interested in it (trust me I'd love to save the time, energy & mess of chopping). Thank you for your feedback though!

Thanks for this video. I have two sphynx cats that I would like to feed raw, but do not want to use a meat grinder. Do I have to buy supplements like taurine, or would it work without? And would it be Ok to use one type of meat, say chicken thighs, or should I use beef and fish as well?

I'm not a feline nutrition expert but it worked very well for my cats with mostly just chicken (once in awhile I'd spoil them with fish of some sort).
