unbelievable testimonys

These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.

Atty: What's your relationship to Mr. XXX?

Wit: I'm his mother.

Atty: How long have you been his mother?

Wit: Since the day he was born!

My mother actually wrote a book called "Ramblings Off the Record," with yours truly featured prominently in the first chapter. It's a hoot and tells you how it really is. It's not so much silly things that people say, but silly things that happen, like a lawyer waltzing into the courtroom thinking he was alone and not being heard singing The William Tell Overture . . till mom crawls out from under her desk and joins in, and then the Clerk, and then the Judge comes out . . . all singing!
