Damn Small Linux, though a dormant distro, is still the most reliable OS - DOS and OS/2 Warp 4 excluded - to put onto any system Celeron and up. Yes, a 486dx2 can handle it, but some apps might not work. If you're working on a 386-486, BasicLinux 3.5 is the best bet. It boots & installs from 2 floppies, and yes, you'll have to do EVERYTHING manually, but the end result is not that different from Damn Small Linux. Like DSL, BL uses JWM (window manager).

DSL gives a new life to old PC

The most light os you will find are the DDOS ones but really would you want that?
Same here.
Its just not my cup of tea.
-
@Crisshomes1 I don't code it, so none taken. Its drastically lighter than other OSes, so it won't have a lot of polish.
-
Booting faster is irrelevant to what it can do by user demands.
Slitaz is the best complete lightweight linux program.
-
@Crisshomes1 Fine, my only point was that it boots faster.... Could try TinyCore, Slitaz or Puppy for a light OS
i can run on intel 486 100mhz 32mb ram ?
