Obama urges reform of US financial system - 14 September 09

The US president has said that the US economy is back from the brink, even as he called for more reform of the financial sector.

Barack Obama's comments come one year after the collapse of Lehman Brothers in the US triggered an economic crisis which rippled across the world.

Now Obama has criticised financial institutions for failing to act on their words. Al Jazeera's Nick Spicer reports.

This may be an attempt to quench the money flow. So the demand of the dollar will rise vs its supply and so the value of the dollar increases. All the while the rich stay rich but this time the poor not only stays poor but the bridge out the poor house is getting blown up.

We need a financial system thats strong and yet full of holes and enough bullshit to give us all a chance.

I believe money doesn't suppose to be before life but I believe we all should be able to play the money game and the rules shouldn't be so strict so that the new business people or that person who is trying to get that first million is now blocked out by strict rules.

All the while those who have already obtained wealth are home free.

So basically I believe Obama is just trying to put a wall and block the rest of us from the opportunity to take advantage of this fucked up system.

Obama's words claiming that U.S. taxpayers had a right to feel 'outraged' that they had to bail out Wall St. is not how I feel. I remember that taxpayers told Congress NOT to bail out Wall St., but they did it anyway with our money. Sure I'm outraged. Not at Wall St., but at the Congress. They could have let AIG go under, canned all the management, bought up the debt and sold it off. By bailing them out, they saved the contracts requiring BONUS PAYMENTS. That was Congress, folks. Not AIG.
