@ruukkukasvi On the Anchor Pressure lamp made in China used in Africa! The regulator knob is connected to a needle in the burner vent hole where the parrafin vapour comes out. If this is worn it needs a replacement, and the signs of wear are a yellow uncontroled flame.
the great thing about the tilley is that the 2 min preheat is so worth it because of how efficient they are on fuel. mine ran at a scout camp outside the toilets for 12 hours on 1.2 pints of parafin/kero, brilliant bit of BRITISH kit
Now I have the preheater, but I'm still having quite big problems with my Tilley: it gives enormous flames through the net (what it is called in English, the glowing net?).
Absolutly brilliant invention and brilliant light, you just have to be patient and give the vaporiser tube time to heat up.
and hey presto the JENIE comes out of the lamp & your wish for light & warmth is granted. After a few more drinks I dream of Jeannie & make a wish that Barbara Eden to accomany me to bed. Cheers
greetings,
I'm in love with this lamp, I think I'll indulge myself by buying a Tilley.
I still have questions about them: they are also quieter than in the video, what are their default objectively.
thank you for your opinion
greetings

I sounds like you might be trying to open the valve too early.
The torch usually takes about a minute or slightly more to heat adequately. (1min 20secs on my Tilley).
Then when you open the valve, which you should still do gradually, the net (mantle) should start glowing brightly.
If you don't give the preheater adequate time the paraffin/kerosene comes through as liquid, rather than vapour, causing very big flames.

The net is called a "mantle" in some locations.
