@xenafan234 agreed!! I am bored with this dialogue..this film would've turned out differently
-
eh, but Christopher Plummer would have made a dismal Henry VIII and Keith Michell owned that role!
-
This was a screen test for HIM - not for the female actress. There's no sense in comparing her to Julie Andrews, for Julie was pretty much the only serious consideration for the movie role.
-
What is her name? I don't think I like her facial expressions...
-
he's a better singer than Plummer, but she can't act
-
@maars95 Keith Michell was the actor. He was a very, very fine actor, but doesn't compare to Christopher Plummer in this role.
-
@Voytchek Andrews yes, Rodgers & Hammerstein insisted on Julie for the role but Plummer was mostly a Stage actor, known on Broadway and in Canada but not in Hollywood.
-
I am so grateful that Chris Plummer insisted on re-write on the script, this duologue is awful!
-
@dolphinjjam well thats easy to say, hindsight and all..
-
@pwthcim: Thanks, she looks great. Seems to me she was too pretty to act in the role of a governess, she was more fit to be the Baroness.
wow after watching this I am even more convinced that NO ONE besides Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews are good enough for this role. Its just not the same without them

I agree with absolutely everything everyone has said about Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews being the best choices for the film it's just hilarious to me that both had to be 'persuaded' to take the parts.... Plummer because he thought that he did not have the voice to be in a musical and Ms. Andrews because she thought the role was too similar to Mary Poppins... Imagine how the film would've turned out if they hadn't taken the roles... :) an entirely different movie would've been made...
