MEET MELISSA CHARLOT
Better known as Charlot, Melissa is born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where she took her first steps towards becoming an illustrious dancer. These first steps were guided by her zeal for dance by watching her parents and brother from an early age. She began her career with Studio A, in Montreal, at the age of thirteen. She was given the opportunity to choreograph and direct her own varsity team to participate in the 2002 World Hip-Hop Championships(Hip Hop International).
With great determination, she guided her team to an outstanding achievement and came home with the gold. Due to her success and perseverance, she was invited to join the once elite team Extreme, also from Studio A and brought them to the next level and had back-to-back successes, winning gold at the 2003 and 2004 World Hip-Hop Championships.
She is currently part of the all female hip-hop crew AFTERMATH from Studio A and has been for three years. This team is choreographed and directed by Erik Saradpon, from Formality and Ivana Junek, from Studio A. Driven and inspired by many different styles, Charlot took this new opportunity to strive to bring herself and her craftsmanship to a whole new level. As she worked closely with choreographers such as Sheryl Murakami, Mariel Martin, Alex Spicey Landé, Phillip Geniza and many more, this electrifying dancer has never ceased to learn and wants to share her knowledge with all.
Charlot had the privilege to dance for artists such as Maestro, Melanie Renaud and Deborah Cox. From the time when she was only thirteen, she has been choreographing for high school talent shows, dances and year end shows and has always aspired to become an inspiring choreographer and professional dancer. This dream finally came true in October 2009, when she signed with Bloc Talent Agency in L.A. With this new chapter facing her, Charlot has never been more determined to mesmerize all with her talent and teaching a Boogiezone class has been a desire of hers and is more than thrilled that this opportunity has been given to her.
