People are using Interact-AS to overcome multiple communication barriers. Examples include (1) enabling individuals that are Deaf to directly communicate with people that do not know sign language; (2) generating a closed-caption transcript of whatever is being said, be it a conversation, a conference room presentation, a radio broadcast, or a video; (3) enabling people that have difficulty writing or typing but have verbal skills to use their voice to dictate memos, answer test questions, or generate text for documents and emails; (4) giving a voice back to individuals who have lost the ability to speak (e.g., ALS patients), here they use Interact-AS to voice aloud whatever they type or write; and (5) With the optional Language Modules, Interact-AS instantly translates conversations to and from foreign languages.
In this video clip, a school teacher describes one instance of how she's using Interact-AS in the classroom to overcome communication barriers.
