A few months ago, Dodd Ferrelle approached David Barbe with the idea for a UGA fight song, which would also benefit the UGA Music Business Program. Ferrelle had already conjured up a rough, rock version of the song, but wanted to take the rock to hip-hop. Immediately, David Barbe formed a team made up of Erin Kemp, Kyle Carruthers, Stephen Spink, and Kahja Washington; all students from the Music Business Program. With the help of Kameon Prather and local hip-hop artist S.N.i.P.A., the song was transformed to a hip-hop version. Some might ask why hip-hop? According to Stephen Spink, member of the UGA Music Business program, "Hip-hop has progressed a lot in the last several years... It's a part of mainstream pop culture. Hip-hop also has the ability to create an energy that we hope will transfer to the fans and players in Sanford Stadium."

Although the song was already written and recorded, the team still had several obstacles to overcome. 1. Before being able to sell the song on iTunes, they had to get permission from the Athletic Department.
2. The group had to pay royalties to the Athletic Association for the right to use a Larry Munson clip in the song.
3. They are not allowed to sell physical copies on campus.
4. They had to go through the process of becoming a vender at the UGA Bookstore to be able to sell copies of the song. (This is still in development)
5. After approaching the Athletic Association for permission to sell the song, the Association approached the team with the idea of making a video to go along with the song. The Athletic Association wanted the video to be shown in the stadium and to feature students, faculty, and fans.

Finally, after almost four months of hard work, the song is available on iTunes for $0.99, with all proceeds benefiting UGA's Music Business Program. The video has been filmed and edited, thanks to Kyle Carruthers and the rest of the team, and will hopefully be featured at the Auburn game or the Kentucky game. The hopes for the fight song in the future are fairly simple: "We want to make the fight song a staple at games, having fans chant along with the song, and get people amped up for the game. Also, we hope that the song will do well enough in order to make money for the Music Business Program, helping more students learn about the music industry. Lastly, we would really love to have the approval of Vince Dooley and Larry Munson," said Stephen Spink on behalf of the rest of the team.

Hopefully we will all see the video at the Auburn game, but for those who can't wait, we pulled some strings and have the video for you to watch today! Hope you enjoy! GO DAWGS!!
