Stage Door: Bill Clinton Leaves Letterman Show

The show was taped on September 21, 2009 for broadcast on September 22. The other guest was LeBron James, but he ran from the door to his van without acknowledging anyone.

Barack Obama was the guest on the show taped for tonight. I got there after he had left, but others who were there told me that nobody could get close enough to get a picture and they put up a tent between the limo and the stage door.

I have seen Bill Clinton before, when he was a candidate and when he was President. The crowds, the level of security and the trappings of power have diminished. He seems almost human now. He was very friendly and amiable with the crowd, most of whom were friendly to him.

Absolutely great footage, so clear. It must be so tense for the security around him.

I recall being in his presence after he left a restaurant in my hometown. Nothing before or since has compared to the personal charisma that man has. Nothing.
