@dlawson688 still, my point stands, it's not the largest trimaran... it's still a very impressive trimaran, certainly one of the largest, but not the largest unqualified by any means... I also said nothing about the purpose of the military trimarans. I've seen then, but I haven't actually looked into what they're used for.

@luccaskunk there are few military trimarans. But most are used for combat but research. BPV is by far the largest racing trimaran built. And on average with wind, can keep up with most if not all military vessels. Right now she is doing the around the world record. in 2 days she has covered 1,500nmiles. Most powered boat will never do that.

there's actually MUCH larger trimarans... but at 131' I'd definitely say this has to be the largest civilian trimaran and the largest sail powered trimaran... The ones I've seen that are larger are 100% diesel powered, no sails, are actually military vessels, and much... much... much larger... but then, I'm not exactly an expert, just I have seen larger navy trimarans and never heard of a civilian one even close to 131'
