American Machine and Foundry (AMF) was a main participant in the slot car racing craze that swept across the USA in the mid-1960s. Huge eight-lane slot racing tracks, with fancy names like King, Monarch, Royal, Imperial and Sovereign, were the hot ticket to fame and fortune. The Blue King track (shown in this movie) became a true classic and its characteristic shape has dominated the slot car scene ever since. But few are probably aware that these tracks initially were designed to be maneuvered by drivers sitting on a stool, using pedals and steering wheels...
