China's Yang Wei retained his all-around title at the world gymnastics championships on Friday despite a spectacular fall from the high bar. Yang had built up such a big lead that even with the fall from the bars, he still was 1.475 points ahead of the second place finisher. Yang becomes the first male ever to win back to back all-around world titles. (WCSN, WCSN.com)

  • he caught his thumb on his other grip. you can see it at 0:40

  • Funny, he is totally nonchalant when he gets a 16.4 on rings but celebrates for a 13.6 on high bar. I know he'd just won the title, but still, that's an awful score. Just shows how great he was.

  • if that coach was trying to catch him...he was like 5 sec too late!

  • the best gymnast at that time couldnt hold on lol

  • the TV guy had an orgasm when Yang fell....

  • what was the german coach saying to yang wei at the end? he mentioned high bar but i couldn't hear anything else XD

  • @fmk3141 because their difficulty is so high and they are so good on other events that they can win with a fall

  • he is a great gymnast all around but he needs to work on his high bar a bit.

  • Where can I find his floor routine?

  • Was he supposed to change swing direction like that at 1:14, and isn't the coach NOT allowed to actually spot the guy during the routine? Looked like he touched him a bit.

Yeah, this guy isn't that great on this event. Same thing happened at the Olympics though where he was so dominant on all the other events he was able to get through a sloppy routine and still win gold. Hamm would have beaten him had he been there though, and he would have been the first back-to-back gold AA.
