I'm an open atheist in High School (13, similar to US middle school) and I did get some disagreements at first, but now a lot of people are accepting.

i am hardcore atheist in middle school i think its easier being a guy and i dont care what people thing but once i opened up people started acceptig me and more people opened up and told the world

In middle school I wasn't an atheist yet, and it's kind of hard to imagine how I would have come out if I had been, but I imagine that I would have just referred to myself as "not religious."

I just tell people I don't believe in fairy tales anymore, myself.

People generally don't know what atheism is, or have a horribly misconstrued version of it. I still say Im an atheist, but for most people, especially at work, I just say I have no religion. If people ask questions, Ill answer, but I usually leave it at that
