The Massachusetts decline from 37th to 47th in job growth under Governor Mitt Romney was not just a coincidence - his cuts to job training and higher education helped make Massachusetts less competitive. Now, Romney wants give massive new tax cuts to the wealthiest while making dramatic cuts to job training and higher education on a national level.

Even with college costs increasing, Romney bragged about his cuts to higher education and his answer to a student asking aboutaffordability was 'shop around'. Romney's rhetoric on college reflects his priorities and worldview: cutting taxes for the wealthy is more important than investing in an economy that works for the middle class.

If you know how prices are set, then you'll find out the reason why college tuition is so high. Colleges will charge as much as students are willing and able to pay. If the government are subsidizing loans then colleges will have no problem in keeping tuition high. However, if colleges are allowed to compete and are not corrupted by the government power to influence the market, then the the cost of tuition would much lower than it is now.

"...you should shop for colleges with lower tuition..." : Because only the rich should be allowed to attend schools like Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, etc. The poor should be satisfied with Community College, if even that. I hate this man. Such a philosophy of denying intelligent middle or lower class people the right to a superior education, simply because of monetary inconveniences, is the antithesis of the American way.

tbh, theres a lot of colleges that cost way more than the colleges u listed; most colleges cost the same, and community college isn't free. And poor people can go to college IF they worked their ass off to get a scholarship or by paying college loans

I'm sorry, but the costs of university will always be a large amount of money. You pay for books, employee salarys, etc ... In Belgium, on average, on year is about 10.000 euros, while the government pays +- 9.500 of that, thanks to our social security system, it is worth the effort.
