Eighty-two World War II veterans flew from Springfield, Il. to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 13, 2001 for a one-day tour. The "Honor Flights" are a way to say "Thank you" to the veterans. During the war, about 16 million American military members were serving worldwide. About two million are alive today.
All these places to honor our veterans so distance, age and finances should not keep them from their pride. They deserve it. Thank you veterans.
