You can see Ennio's touch in the soundtrack, He did not do the soundtrack for La Piovra 1, which had very little except for that melancholic music that played every time Corrado saw Titi...Morricone's work is an absolute masterpiece and without the soundtrack the series would have been close to nothing. I cannot remember a movie where the soundtrack is as important as the movie itself.
As far as the series, it still remains great for us who were lucky to enjoy it in late 80s and early 90s.
