This is another demo of the Ibanez Talman Inter City Acoustic Electric which is a very cheap guitar. A friend of mine has the Ashton acoustic electric so I might have to AB test them one day.
Over the years Ive written a number of small pieces of music designed for acoustic guitar. Some of these are recorded here. Im hoping to tab out these pieces soon.
There are a bunch of mistakes, but I think its ok. Im also playing a lot of mode changes, which I like. I also like looking at ways to move from one chord to another my changing only one note at a time. It gives a classical music sound. Hope ya like it.
PS: Before I forget.
The guitars bass and trebble are on 0. (ie. center). The volume is on full. The strings are old and I think they are lites and unsure of the brand. They are yellow in colour. ie: Not electric strings.
Recorded direct to my Tascam US122 into Reaper. The effects on the guitar are Kjaerhus Audios compressor, phaser using standard presets. The reverb is KarmaFX's reverb using the "Ballad Hall" setting.
Mastering is via Kjaerhus Audios compressor and then master limiter. All these VST effects are FREE. KarmaFX's reverb is amazing.
Here is the full audio chain if you are interested in repeating this:
1) Guitar - Bass:0 Trebble:0 Volume:10
2) Tascam US122 (Guitar Mode - Hi-Z)
3) Reaper Audio Software
4) Kjaerhus Classic Compressor - Acoustic Guitar
5) Kjaerhus Classic Phaser - Acoustic Guitar #2
6) KarmaFX Reverb - Hall / Ballad Hall
7) Kjaerhus Classic Compressor - Mix Down
8) Kjaerhus Classic Master Limiter - Master CD
You can achieve this without a tascam by using your PC input. It should still sound ok.
Steps 4, 5, 6 are all on one channel.
Steps 7,8 are on the master channel.
The 7 and 8 steps are common to most of my recordings. They just help master the final rendered audio.
The classic phaser is very nice. Not like a lot of other phasers that just seem to be weird sounding. Normally I use the classic chorus, but it didn't sound right for this. I dont normally use a compressor for distorted electric since the distortion is a compression effect itself.
Um, thats it I think. Cheers to all finger pickers.
One last thought. Im using the Hi Z input on the Tascam but Im unsure if the Ibanez is Hi Z or not. O well, who cares.
Either the tascam is clipping, bad mic on the guitar, or a flat battery. You may also be clipping the tracks on your DAW. Could be the cable too. Shitty cables can distort. Try using another guitar or test the guitar on an amp. Also, Reaper is far better IMHO.

im deciding betweenthis and the Washburn wd 7scea dreadnought what do u reccomend for chrds and good leads

@brandonandkyletv Ive never played that Washburn model, but I know they make good guitars. I prefer the traditional design of the Washburn over the Ibanez, so I would go for that. Call me old, but traditional looking guitars look better imo. Plus, it looks like the washburn costs more. The Ibanez sounds shitty without an amp

You rock!
I have the same guitar...
Is it possible to make it sound like an electri guitar through an amp ?

@sagokolikali Yea, Ive seen a lot of musicians do that. A little light distortion sounds nice. Also, using a slide gives you an earthy "hippy" tone:
Look into bands like: The Brian Jones Massacre, Ben Harper, Wheatus, Beck, The Breeders, John Butler Trio, The Cruel Sea.
There are many more. Those will get you started.

Thats a really nice tone you got there .Ive started messing about with Amplitube
have you got any pointers for getting a good acoustic tone with sims.
Thanks Wayne

@wanna31 PS: That said. There maybe an amazing sound via a sim that is far better than dry D.I sound. But, as a general rule, I beleive any D.I recorded guitar should sound great before applying effects. I fully beleive in the KISS principle. Adding more and more variables to a recording only makes it harder why a recording is not working, and makes it almost impossible to re-produce results. ie: if you get a great sound, you want to be able to reproduce that sound for multiple recordings.
