Floggings. the mobs used to ask whiteys to witness public floggings. I witnessed several, in some cases teenage girls. These took place on the "town" oval, everyone watched and roared like Origin.

Some weekends I would have nurses come over and bawl after trying to help assorted kids with sexually transmitted diseases asking me to get the perpetrators away for work.

On some weekend I moonlighted as a ambulance driver picking up the stabbed and beaten. keep ya eyes closed.

  • @mltar2 boaties = idiot sailors ... and other adventurers that cost a fortune

  • @Inconvenientruths Oooohh. just saw this. Lol. A worker should be more careful when reflecting. Your discovery of your own truths does not then extrapolate to the rest of the world. I should hope that we are at least allowed to feel good about what we do. However, if it's patronising missionary stuff, that's another story. So, after discovering your phoneyness, you turn baggin the same people who built your CV. If you're not a leftie so be it. You'll be right mate.

  • @Inconvenientruths Being a leftie to me is not finding a cause to stoutly defend. It's about attitude and humanity. It means not just going along with the mob. Any Aboriginal hater can mouth off a cliche, not many have the brains to think twice. Re the second richest industry, again your comparison is false, what's more it's an important sounding claim that probably has no truth. your wages don't equate to Aboriginals ripping off. btw. Boaties = sailors. Bones breaking, flogging?

  • @mltar2

Matey while being a lefty means you need to find a cause and a platitude to defend stoutly, sometimes you have to accept the facts. The Aboriginal Industry is the second richest after mining. And yes your right it does't hurt the CV and yes it does make you see an ugly side to humanity ON BOTH SIDES, while its not nice its a fact of life.

Shit happens, it never gave me pleasure to hear bones snap while Aboriginal teenagers were publically flogged while the crowd roared, think Origin!

  • @Inconvenientruths That's just wrong, no wonder nothing's been achieved with "all of the money" that's gone into the Aboriginal welfare industry ... the workers just eat it up. Yeah. Blame the Abos for that hey? If indeed you did work in Aboriginal communities, I'm sure it hasn't hurt your CV. Me, I wouldn't work in the industry. Volunteer, yes. Profit from it? No. Sit back and take pot shots? No. Plenty of racists out there who can do that quite well. Another ugly side of humanity.

  • @Inconvenientruths Random and irrelevant. Hardly what you originally raised. So now they shouldn't be rescued simply because they're Aboriginal? Sheesh. All the stupid boaties we go searching for who aren't even Australian. I'll be dropping out of this thread as it's too long and not the place.

  • @mltar2 The facts of life in the Aboriginal Industry is that you have Missionaries, Misfits n Mercinaries, all have a similar impact. I know enough to say that us whiteys used to joke about it amongst ourselves, That you can fool of of the people all of the time.

If the truth about the money spent, what it went for, was allowed to get out there would be civil unrest.

An example in 2001 the taxpayers put in 6 mil to search for a plane load of Aboriginals in the Gulf, not that they knew it!

  • @mltar2

I understand your sentiments, I worked in the Pacific for years and decided that charity begins at home. However it was brought to my attension by a UN worker that my wife and I were nothing more than Bob Geldoff clones. She then stated that most save the world types (us) actually did it to make themselves feel good, it was imaterial who they/we helped, She was right!

In any case we stayed but I actually experienced the facts of life in the Aboriginal Industry, all is not as it seems!

  • @Inconvenientruths Well, I don't think your comparison is good at all. In terms of Germans, the comparison would be Colonial invaders to Nazis given the overt genocide program. In terms of Japs, we hardly went in there colonised and then brutalised for a couple of centuries then told them to stop whinging. If you want to talk about where the money has gone don't think it's gone to the Aboriginals.
