The Inkjet Printer Record Cutter Lathe Project | The HDD cutter head - The Stylus.AVI

The vinyl is back and I have always loved vinyl records! So, I have noticed enthousiast people on YouTube and other video sharing websites about record cutting lathes, record presses and all about!

On my side, I want to build some machines of my own since my youth who cuts records. Today, I have the chance to cut records with my own record cutting lathe tryout projects on CD's and evenly lacquer-like media. That's time now!...

Despite I have always liked to "patent" something with all material found in the environment especially used electric and electronic apparatuses (longtime before the evironmental e-waste crisis), I'm using computer parts and peripherals as hard disks, inkjet printers (the most useful thing for inspiring jukebox mechanisms and record cutting lathes) and evenly scanners in order to give the "green" idea to anyone who wants to try it and help indirectly saving the planet!...

There is the presentation of the Western Digital SATA hard drive (stylus presentation) that will be used as the first cutter head of the inkjet printer record cutting lathe project. Many other hard drives like this will succeed the first one to improve the performance of the lathe until getting full satisfaction for this unique (I think) category of artisanal record cutting lathe project in construction!

At this moment, the hard disk drive cutter head (based on the HDD speaker principle) constitutes a mono cutter head with a single coil. But sooner, if all anything goes right with no problems, a new stereo hard disk drive cutter head will be built constitued of two opposite hard disk drives face-to-face with the stylus driver arm built especially to receive the signal of the two hard drive coils (R-L) trough the hard disk drives reading arms.

The stylus used is a Staedtler compass peak with two types of stylus each end: one coarse and the other very sharp. The one used for the project is the sharp one for more accuracy!

These videos are raw without any comments, correction nor written informations!... That's a begining! As the project advances, better quality videos will be made with news and written explanations about the project's evolution until its completion! Unfortunately, I have only 32 MB of flash memory at this moment and I can only record about 10 to 30 secs of video each time!

NOTE:
The project I build is artisanal, not professional, constitued of a suite of tryouts and can be unsuccessful due to numerous technical limitations. But, it worths the trick to experiment it!
