The "How to mix Color" series was created by Impressionistic landscape artist Kevin McCain specifically for his Plein Air painting workshops. This video describes the characteristics of color and the definitions of color attributes specifically warm and cool colors so you can understand how to control paint colors as you mix them.

  • cool yellow-lemon or cadmium yellow light

    warm yellow-yellow ochre or naples yellow

    cool red-alizarin crimson or rose

    warm red-cadmium red light or vermillion

    cool blue-colbalt blue or ultramarine blue

    warm blue-maganese blue or cerulean blue

    Orange, green and purple are secondaries and lean cool or warm based on the two colours used to make them. Right?
