I don't get how NJ natives can hate the move. They brought it on themselves. They couldn't even sell out when they went to the finals. They didn't show up. Not to say all the fans are bad but seriously. If you cannot sell out playoff games when your team is good, then you can't be mad when your team leaves.

I'll tell you why: it's because their failures in New Jersey were their own doing basically. Look at all the rebranding and effort they've put into the move to becoming the Brooklyn Nets to appeal to them, look at all they did when they moved to New York the first time to do that, and then look at what they did do to in the way of rebranding when they came to New Jersey .They were the same New York Nets with New Jersey slapped in front. As a result most Jersyites couldn't identify with them.

Well the New York Nets were just a throwback thing, but can't help but notice before the move drew closer the started with "New York" instead of the ones that just said "Nets" that they usually used for that. Their current ones don't even say Nets anymore :p. I think if they had branded themselves for New Jersey specifically they could have been very successful here.

I agree. Bruce Ratner took the team from New Jersey so he could build an arena and use that as clout to take other buildings around that arena and build his own mini-city all owned by him. Instead of waiting until he was in Brooklyn to make the switch, he took away "New Jersey" from the away uniforms and eventually had the team wear the old New York Nets uniform (which said "New York" on it, in big letters). He changed the team on us before he even got out of NJ, so the Nets aren't the same team

Are they really? They certainly don't feel like the same old Nets to me. Different colors (which I thought was a highly disrespectful thing to mess with), different mascot, different logo, different uniform, different coach, largely different players, they represent a different area, different fans, different team anthem. What about the Nets remains the same? If a word's definition changes is it still the same word? Their still Nets, but what Nets are is now different. Also, NJ is not NY dammit!

Dont beg, it will be another franchise for NJ. No matter they still Nets. They were created in NJ. Beside NY and NJ, to me, are the same bufeo.
