  • Hey Erica. I have a question, as my amazing Vita-Mix came two days aho (love it):

Is it normal for there to be a slight plastic smell when first using the Vita-Mix blender? I noticed that when I first tried to make ice cream (which melted) the motor began to smell a little like the box that the Vita-Mix came in, but strong. Was that the same for you with your blender when you first got it?

Apart from that, it does a fantastic job with stems and seeds. It is also VERY VERY loud. Normal?

  • @TheLoserKingdom Thanks for the comment... sorry for the delay in responding (we just adopted again). I do remember a slight smell that reminded me of the smell all new appliances have, but nothing offensive - if the smell continues, be sure to contact VitaMix and their awesome customer service department will help you figure out what might be going on (if it's not normal). I hope you are enjoying your new VitaMix - I know you are going to LOVE IT! :-) God Bless! ~ Erika

  • I make coconut ice cream using Thai Chicken brand coconut milk. I use a ice cream maker, the kind you freeze the canister the day before making the ice cream.

All I use is two cans of coconut milk, half a cup of raw sugar, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix all ingredients before pouring into the ice cream maker. Add to the machine and turn on, and wait 15 to 20 minutes for a yummy, and creamy dairy free ice cream.

  • @LightSpirit24 - A friend made me ice cream this way a few months ago and it was so good! Except she used Agave Syrup instead of sugar... Personally I think the raw sugar would make it taste more like 'authentic' ice cream. Thanks for the comment! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • Hi - I like your recipe and I will try it. But, did you know that some raw chefs are saying that agave, raw or not, is the same as HFCS and it is not good for diabetics (like me) - use yacon syrup - you can research it if you like

    peace

  • @xaniim - I've read about this, but the jury is still out on whether there's any truth to it. I try to use a raw form of ingredients whenever they are available since they are generally processed less. In this case, we save the agave for desserts and use it sparingly. Thanks for the comment! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • @ShaolinHero1 kudos if for changing your opinion and removing your comment, I guess you lost lost this one, try again.

  • @midcitygym well Leo, interestingly enough I've changed my view on cacao. Still, while I mentioned what was "my opinion" for the benefit of others, you have chosen to be a dick about it. Speak for yourself, and keep your holier than thou bs to yourself cos I'M not interested. Loser!

  • @ShaolinHero1 no ones interested in your anti cacao comments, read the science on the helath benefits of cacao.

  • i eat sugar and fried foods :)

  • Agave is highly refined and actually has more concentrated fructose than high-fructose corn syrup. it is not raw as well.

  • A little FYI on agave nectar. It's higher in fructose than high fructose corn syrup and is highly refined. Fructose is not good for diabetics as it is processed through the liver and often stored as fat, just like HFCS. In short, use it sparingly.

  • @aLittleInsanityVideo The smell has gone now. I just made delicious banana ice cream!
