@spideymayne I don't torrent or buy animé, at any rate; I watch it here. I will admit to having torrented some cruddy games I was very thankful I didn't buy...and some I love and will buy as soon as I have the cash. I'm pretty sure artists of all mediums would have enough money if it was pay-as-you-wish rather than pay-as-we-demand.

@Freefalldreams Here's my bigger point: you're ultimately complaining about economic conditions and then justifying not paying for a product you want.

What about the animators that worked for hundreds of hours on these projects? What about their families? If animation doesn't sell, animators lose work.

If no one buys anime, the market collapses. Then you won't have to worry about not paying for anything, because there won't be any anime to buy, period.

@Freefalldreams 1) He was talking about the triviality of paying for anime, period, when the internet has made it widespread and available.

2) You should take your own advice about assumptions. Just because I'm not supporting piracy doesn't mean that I have a lot of money.

3) The anime market in the U.S. has shrunken to about half of what it was worth just seven years ago. That's due almost entirely to piracy.

@spideymayne That's assuming you can afford to buy it. From personal experience, I can attest that the overwhelming keep-you-up-at-night urge to possess something available on torrents does not always come at the same time as the cash at hand to buy it the legal way. Don't assume everyone has your copious financial resources.
