Re: Fitna the Movie: Geert Wilders' film about the Quran part 2

Some quranic verses are sent down by Allah swt only in the context of the Prophet's times and specifically his dealings with others. Others, such as those that adjoin good and righteous deeds and having strong character, are sent down for all times and all humanity.

The verses quoted from the Quran on War is specifically for the Battle of Badr (17th Ramadhan 2H or 20th February 626AD), and later the Battle of Uhud, where the Muslims were outnumbered (1000-300 for Badr) by the Makkan Arab Quraisy and their allies. They fought only in self-defense and to preserve their lives and heritage.

Most Muslims and non-Muslims alike quote these verses totally out of context for their own irrational means, which only serves to perpetuate hatred, misunderstanding and ignorance between believers of Islam and their contemporaries.

hey safnFOPDS, glad to be of help..it's just what little i can do with whatever knowledge i have..most is basically taken out of the Holy Quran: Text, Translation and Commentary by 'Abdullah Yusuf Ali. It's been translated from urdu into english, and several other world languages. His efforts shall not go to waste if many take time to approach, read and digest the Quran for it's true worth. Once again, i urge you greatly to learn Islam from the right sources.

Ok. So some nice pictures to a soothing sound track is supposed to convince us that islam is the religion of peace and not some moon-god worshipping death-cult from the hijaz???

I guess it takes more than just this to convince you about Islam. But take it from the Muslim scholars and practising Muslims that are out there. It's not fair that you're judging Islam based on misconstrued facts by people who don't even practice the religion fairly (terrorists) and those that claim to know it dearly but don't (eg, Geert Wilders)

Find out more for yourself. And btw Muslims worship Allah, God of all Creations who has at least 99 names and not one of them is 'The Most Violent'.

There is more to Islam that what is depicted in the media and what you've heard of. It's a holistic, comprehensive and beautiful religion. Take it from the right practitioners. Listen to the right people. You wouldn't want people to misjudge you based on what others say about you, when they know so little about you. Do the same to other faiths.

I'm just giving you an alternative viewpoint to the verses quoted in the movie.

Start learning from the right sources and make your OWN judgement.

Anyway to all, if you'd like to understand the Quran further please please use a properly translated text, recommended ones are translations by Abdullah Yusuf Ali or Sayyid Abul A'la Mawdudi. They include translation, text and commentary that complement and give further substance to what you're reading.

Taking any illicit book off the shelf and quoting from it is like taking Entertainment Weekly's latest feature on Britney Spears.
