  • I'll share a technique with you that I learned recently. Using an angle grinder I put on the wire brush attachment. It looks like a series of twisted wire cables on a wheel. Lowes/Home Depot has them. Run the brush along the grain on a piece of pine. Construction lumber works best. The brush when used lightly will remove the soft white grain while leaving the hard dark grain. You will end up with something that looks like aged drift wood. Try it, it's cool.
