Update: In a major legal victory for school choice, the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a frivolous legal challenge to Arizona's innovate private school scholarship tax credit program. (April 4, 2011) http://www.ij.org/about/3751

On November 3, 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the oral arguments in the case Garriot v. Winn. Arizona, like many states, offers tax credits to individuals and businesses for donations to fund scholarships for students to attend private schools. The goal of these programs is to give as many students as possible the resources they need to get a good education. The Dennard family has benefited from this program. Hear their story.

  • @singlaprety12 Why does it matter? If IJ wins it will help children of all races and ethnicities.

  • @residentfan2 You are correct. My comparison is based on the fact that both programs allow parents greater opportunity in choosing how their kids are educated . The Union Schools don't want that since that would destroy their monopoly on education.

  • Wouldn't it be something if the American Civil Liberties Union actually worked for the Civil Rights of Americans?

Instead, they work to limit the freedoms of Americans while pushing their social agenda and padding the pockets of lawyers,

  • @croissantanyone HI - I dont hate children. I have 2 kids of my own. I just think that people should not have children unless they have some reasonable plan to care for them. of course, it is there right to have as many kids as they like..

  • Most important decision since Brown v. Board

  • 9th circuit court of appeals is always the thorn in the side of all sanity

  • The really funny thing about these programs is that if the govt would end public education altogether then everyone would have "tax credits" (i.e. would be allowed to keep more of their money instead of having it stolen by the govt) that could be used to either pay for private school and/or help fund scholarships for those kids who can't. Then all children could have a good education instead of attending a govt brainwashing camp. It's so simple.

  • ACLU is against choice.

  • The Democrats in Oh tried to stop charter schools but they failed. They were backed by politicians that are backed by the teacher's union!

  • The ACLJ is full of it now! The constitution is what gives the states the right to handle this program and that same constitution is what keeps the federal government out...how can lawyers be so ignorant about the law of the land? How can they challenge the constitutionality of a program that is run by a state when the constitution is what limits the feds?

  • Why did the Obama parents DENY 25 poor kids scholarships to their kids school? The Obama's don't want their girls around POOR kids on scholarships in a private school. It's simple. Yea..go vote Democratic that will work for poor black kids everywhere, especially in Washington DC. Black folks have to wake up and STOP voting for DEM'S altogether.
