@vertigo568gmail Sorry I'm late. My box is open bottom to prevent any gas fumes, which are heavier than air, from accumulating. Air intake is in the foot under the control panel, even cooling. Like a car, this open-bottom case cannot hold gas fumes, on or off. Not a fire hazard at all. The only part that gets hot is that grille where the exhaust and cooling air come out. The whole rest of it is cool to the touch. There's a 3" space all around it, except the handcrank side against truck.
I've seen one of these put in the bed of a truck with plywood over top, and a small electric house fan blowing air on it (to keep it cool under the plywood). standing next to the truck, you wouldn't know it was there.
@vertigo568gmail you'll just melt all the plastic on the endsand overheat it.
My box uses the van door for the front wall, 3 aluminum sides with steel frame and the bottom is all open. Cooling comes through the foot under the power panel right on the ground of EU3000 intake. A hooded slot as big as the air/exhaust outlet is cut in that side for hot air/exhaust to come out. Box swings down on hinges and hangs under genset for servicing and fueling, locked to truck to stop thieves.
@w4csc Is there a fire hazard when putting a gen in a metal box soundproofed with dynamat, having tubes connected so air is flowing in and carrying exhaust out of the box?
No way! A 15000btu will need about 1500 watts of continuous power after the compressor has already kicked in. But when the compressor kicks in, it will need about 5000 watts for a few seconds and your genny will not supply that

I believe the Honda and Yamaha generators are the best made. My opinion though.

Has anybody check to see how the Boliy Generator (3600 Watt) at a little over $1,000 compares with this Honda?

@w4csc I would like to put a gen inside a soundproofed vented box inside a truck camper or van, but want to know if it could be a fire hazard
