My latest Wilesco, this is the brass and black model D406. I have added some extra brass to it - the chimney and three boiler bands. There are also rubber tyres fitted. I am going to fit new axles with screw on brass hubcaps, and have bought a brass meths burner to replace the tablet fuel.

  • Sounds good, let me know if you upload a video. I've also added the brass hubcap and axle set since. Looking forward to the new rally season, and I am hopefully taking this one to a Miniature Steam day in the summer!

  • Very nice, the replacement chimney looks so much better than the stock item, and the tyres look superb. Can you tell me where you got the chimney?

  • @radioroidar Hi, tyres are from Forest Classics (rear angled tread) I mixed these with a straight tread set I had already. The chimney was from Model Enthusiasts look for the Wilesco pages, and chimney stacks - only cost about £7 I think. As you say it does make a big difference to the look.

  • I'm just waiting (impatiently!) for a D406 purchased on ebay a few days ago. I've already ordered the tyres, chimney (black powder-coated), and a smokebox and dart set (from steam4fun). They also sell a set of three brass lamps (two front, one rear-red lens), which are coming next...

    Thanks for the inspiration.
