Peggy (Mamie Van Doren) performs a raunchy number causing boyfriend Jim (Clark Gable) to squirm before classy companions Erica (Doris Day) and Hugo (Gig Young) in "Teacher's Pet" (1958).
Definitely a pleasant surprise. All three leads are great and the movie really is funny! It only drags slightly at the end and gets just a bit preachy as it attempts to infuse late 50's social commentary and the values that were such the rage back then. Not a great fan of Gable but check out his facial reactions and Doris is at the top of her game. After suffering through bombs like Houseboat and Young at Heart, I was delighted with this winner!!!
@CarlyTenneySnyder me too, yea haha

Doris Day, Clark Gable and Gig Young! What a great movie this was! As for PeterFirthfan, Clark Gable was not too old for this part!

Too old to playa young journalistic progidy. The fat ex-rent boy had already had two heart attacks.

This is my favorite Day movie. Their reactions to the girl dancing alone are enough to make me laugh.
