This is a project I worked on for the Carbon Cap Competition hosted by the Environmental Defense Action Fund at http://www.edf.org/competition. It's a kinetic typography piece focusing on basic fundamentals of typography and timing to the music and voice over track. I tried to make the color palette and the animated accents match the tone of each segment and provide the viewer with the the essence of the message.

I'm very proud of the outcome, especially since I completed the majority of this project within 1 day. I did all the motion design and graphics while the audio was provided by the colleague of my friend who originally came to me for my help on this project. In the end this was not submitted to the competition due to the lack of a contract that led to many disagreements and the withholding of valuable information that I required to comfortably turn over my hard work.

It's a shame and once again a reminder to always make a contract before you begin work, even if it's volunteer work for a friend of a friend and the deadline is a few days away. Always make a contract! It will save you lots of time and trouble in the long run.

  • What exactly do you mean by contract?

Sorry if it sounds like a n00b question.

But I think you did a great job on portraying the speech here.

  • @pistachoicecream A contract is a legal document stating how your work can be used by other parties, how you will be compensated for your work, etc. If you hand your work over to someone without the right contract/license they can use it for whatever they want and even claim it as their own if you aren't careful. A signed contract will help with all this.

  • i really like how this is neat but it ges to the point... did you use AE to do this??

  • @GingyOs Yes, I used AE, Photoshop, & Illustrator

  • where can i get the solid images like the plane and the ship etc...?

  • @rotaficionado Another easy way is to use an image as reference and trace around the image with the pen tool, either in After Effects or Illustrator. That's how I did the oil wells. I drew each piece and then animated them.

  • This video is full of Al Gore lies!!!

  • @woodjj CO2 traps heat in the atmoshpere and doesn't let it escape back into space. CO2 is good for plants to an extent, but when produced in excess it is harmful as a whole. Just like water, while beneficial to most life, is dangerous in excess. Just like Vitamin D is healthy in your diet, but in excess it is toxic. Just because plants require CO2 for photosynthesis, doesn't mean it's good to pump as much CO2 in the atmosphere as we please. Try to use some reasoning and research next time.

  • Pretty sure cows are more to blame for it than us. Plus any volcano that goes off is gonna do far more damage than we can. So sit back and enjoy the snowy winters and sunny summers :D

  • we must stop? LOL without oil we won't have clothes, food, transportation and anything else. If you want to live in Afghanistan so badly why don't YOU move there instead of telling ME how to live my life? Or just die, morons...
