One of the best cuts on Magic and Loss. Wasserman (bass) is huge in this song, but it is the brooding, hypnotic playing of Reed that makes this an epic.
The lyrics are among the best of his career, including VU. Song craft at its very height.

I've known this song from childhood - it was a favourite of my dad's. It's Reed at his most brilliant even if it's also at his most bleak. It haunts me - I always return to it. Somehow though, I wish I could unhear it. After 9 years of clinical Depression associated with a debilitating illness, this song begins to feel like my own stifled scream.
