thank you so much you rock!

As long as you feel comfortable playing and the right noise is coming out, don't worry.
What ever works for you is good but I just have to ensure that I put over the correct technique in the video lesson.
Have fun.

I got it down, my only problem is I can't keep my thumb in front of my fingers.

is the sound from the string supposed come out more dull when i finger pick than compared to using a guitar pick??

@etaionshrdluxe7 Hi, not so much dull, think warm. But for a bright attack on the bass notes you can try a thumb pick. using the nails on the picking hand brightens the tone.i tend to use the flesh on my finger tips as my nails keep breaking :o/ Enjoy the lessons. Try exercise 3 if this one goes well. :o) Max

in between resting my other fingers (aka pinky, ring, index) do i rest them on the strings? I can switch fingers easier withou but not sure if its a bad habit.

@Guitarmageddon182 Well whatever works best for you but try to keep the hands relaxed and gradually I think you'll find the finger can hang free ready to play. Practice slowly...really slowly. :o)
