You have proven to the world and to the United States that despite the arms and military/western commercial aircraft embargo , your country manage to produce your own locally-made weapons and aircrafts . @cbarsonfire Charcoal filters are very effective at removing smells. It will certainly have oxygen generators, hydrogen burners, and CO2 absorbers. Even with all that, it will still have residual diesel fuel smell and other smells. The only way to really clear the air is when they snorkel to recharge batteries.

@clever50 Persian Gulf is very dangerous for submarines because it is shallow, constrained, and no temperature gradients to hide under. What Iran should do, if they haven't done so already, is develop their own version of America's SOSUS net.

Rather than use submarines, install fixed torpedo launchers at various places along the net. The array can be used to track and calculate target path and speed into an acoustic-seeking torpedo and then launched by remote control from the SOSUS base.
