Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer makes a cell clone that matches the treatment recipient's DNA exactly. They can't make a "human clone" because the amendment BANS implanting the cells made from that process into a uterus. They won't need to harvest organs when they can help your body grow another one. Get some education.
A group of 80 Nobel laureates eloquently addressed this concern in a letter dated February 22, 2001, to President Bush. If 80 Nobel laureates think that stem cell research is important, then that's good enough for me. There is no real moral dilemna here. The research must be done and our government should fund it in the same way that our Space Program was funded in the 1960s. While we slumber in the twilight zone of ignorance, other countries are leaving us in the dust!
2 is not about stem cell reasearch. it's about "Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer", which is cloning humans for scientific experiments. I don't know about you, but I'm not ready growing a twin just so i can harvest him for spare parts.
I hope missouri can push past it's close-minded, christian fundamentalist approach and pass amendment 2 this november. However, that will be hard seeing that the people who strongly oppose it are trying to brainwash missouri the same way they scare people into joining thier church.
