A blast from the recent past - this previous November to be exact - is in store for this TGA Weekly. I was originally speaking about the money used in DLC and other areas of gaming culture when I decided to weigh in on the upcoming AVGN movie and James Rolfe's Indie GoGo video. Check it out!

  • Who did your intro song?

  • @UnforgivenRonin Asalieri.

  • So my takeaway from this video is "give James Rolfe money if you like his work and want to see the AVGN movie... but if you don't want to waste your money then don't give it to James Rolfe." Wow, this was just an eye opening and riveting opinion you just delivered.

  • @wererook It wasn't meant to be "eye opening and riveting", just my thoughts on the whole affair. I made it known that I personally would not do such a thing to enhance my "career" but that I can see how a filmmaker with an audience like his would pursue such an action.

Plus it's a simple statement in saying that "it's your money; flush it if you want to."

  • and look I'm not against donations, people donated through their own incentive and pure love of James' work before.

If he really wanted to put the film on Theaters(which was the original plan), then he should have ask for Investors, not donators and certainly not a donation drive.

For about the speculated quality of the product, the script was made about 2-3 years ago when the nerd was still good, so maybe it won't suck and maybe it won't be a "kickassia 3", just maybe...

  • @TheRPGShadow I really don't know. The only way "to know" is to actually watch the final product.

  • I think the smartest thing to do is to reserve judgment until the movie is released.

  • "It's a Clubberfuck!!" - that episode had me it tears!! :'D Can't believe you think it's of a lesser quality than his older videos... What about "Nun-chuck fuck!!" that episode was fantastic! Obviously you can't please everyone all the time, but generally I think the newer videos have more polish :)

  • James is as good now as ever. Unlike other game reviewers he is atleast making an effort to evolve and separate himself from the other reviewers. And to TheRPGShadow's comment, he specifically didn't want investors involved so that he would have complete control over his film and rightfully fucking so! He came up with the whole concept but if investors stepped in they could completely change the script he tediously worked on or even cast a different actor as the star. That would be bullshit.

  • I'd contribute a $10 for you to get a sheet to cover up your wall with when you shoot your rants.

  • RIP headphone users

  • @ImTheDruggernaut look his new video, and then talk!!!!

  • Asking for money from his fans doesn't really bother me (despite how politically incorrect it is in these economically troubled times).

What really struck me however was when James Rolfe asked for Atari 2600 cartridges on top of the almost $250,000 he gained from his fans. The Atari 2600 cartridges are likely "props" which James should buy using his own money. Asking for that on top of the $250,000 is being greedy.
