I used to drink Heineken in the 80's not because it was 'cool' but because I like the flavor (I still do). It WAS alternative I suppose but not trendy -- we didn't have ads telling us what it was, it just was what it was. People are now being sold a lifestyle, like if you drink it, you'll get the chicks and admiration of everyone like the guy in this ad. I'll tell you one thing, if I were at a club these days, I wouldn't be caught dead drinking Heineken. Heineken is in the process of suicide.

This is a prime example of what I call mnemonic vexation. The idea is to create a sense of irritation in the viewer to better stand out in their memory among other commercials. This commercial succeeds with the use of the insidiously repetitive hook further modified by the slight Danish accent of the singer. It's the kind of song that's catchy the first time you play it, after which each successive play exponentially raises a factor equivalent to soul murder.

I think the point here is that uber-mensch bro's world is already open via being a badass martial artist / magician / athlete / musician / all around playboy with skads of money and model good looks; drinking heineken is probably the only thing that's out of place in the commercial; having louis XIII cognac poured from a ming vase into super dude's mouth while he juggles three different deadly dangerous and endangered species would have made more sense given the overall context
