@CocktailPartyTime the definition retard is the opposite of acceleration. When sometings gets retard it is pulled back, just like you do when flaring and setting throttle to idle. So, it is a combination, not only just idle.

All newer airbus planes do this A380 and newer Retard in french means slow down/slow or decrease so this is just the plane telling you that this is the point where you should set the throttle to idle and let the plane hit the ground.
