[Talon's P.O.V]
When I departed from Skyla's apartment building a smile was plastered on my face. If it didn't look girly, I would have skipped all the way home. As I sauntered home, I heard my phone beep, indicating I had received a text message. I whipped out my phone and inputted my passcode. I saw the message was from Keaton and clicked on it to view what he had sent me. I read to myself what he sent:
'Hey, are you going to the Masquerade Winter Ball? I don't know if I should go, but if I do I want to go with Keegan.' The text read. I texted back that I was required to go and that he should take Keegan, they were very good together, I could tell he liked her a lot. I sent the text just as I reached my house and walked right inside. I was instantly bombarded with my five-year-old twin sisters, Hope and Faith. Each of them clutched one of my legs, allowing me not to move.
"Hope, Faith. What are you doing girls?" I asked, as they tightened their grips on my legs. The smiled up at me, which caused me to smile.
"Attacking you. We did a sneak attack!" Hope proclaimed, shaking my pant leg. I chuckled as Faith began to copy her. The soon let go and ran off to their room, most likely playing house or having a tea party with their stuffed animals. I sauntered into the kitchen where I saw my mom cooking something.
"Hey mom." I stated, walking over and kissing her on the cheek. "How was work?" I added in as she sliced some cucumbers into a huge clear glass bowl that was full of lettuce and carrots so far.
"It was okay. You know the usual, inventory and making sure each store is neat and organized." Kathlyn, my mother, said as she mixed up the clear bowl of salad mixings with salad tongs. "I'm excited to meet Skyla; she sounds like she has made a massive impact on you." She added in, lifting her head from concentration on the food, to smile at me.
"I know. She is very sweet and I...Well I told her about my siblings. You know how hard it is for me to say 'Hey, I have six siblings.'" I replied, looking down and then up. My mother hated that I wasn't more open about all my siblings. She felt I had nothing to be ashamed, if anything I should be proud of how many I had.
"And her reaction?" She asked, leaving a blank space for me to fill with my response.
"She didn't have a problem with it; actually she complimented you on how you raised such a great kid." I said, repeating what Skyla had said, but in a different sentence form.
"What a sweetie she is." My mother said, cutting up another cucumber. "Are you picking her up?" She questioned cutting half of the cucumber as she awaited my answer.
"Yes, leaving at ten minutes to six. Will dad be here tonight?" I asked anxiously. My father, Marcus, was never around. He was not a bad father; he just had personal issues.
"Yeah, he is doing great today. They are allowing him out tonight." She answered, smiling big. My mother was always ecstatic when my dad could come home, even for a few hours. We had a five minute long conversation and I decided it was time to get ready to pick Skyla up. I dashed upstairs and tided up my room quickly. I hopped into the shower and spruced myself up wearing an outfit my mom said, would be a knockout. I slipped on my shoes and headed out the door, preparing for an interesting night.
