Yes, we still have these things. Individualism and Liberty are being diminished, however, and this is reflected in our declining moral character. What I am saying is Individualism is being undermined by the absolution of responsibility for one's own self. The Welfare-State is killing our culture of freedom. How can one proclaim to be free when one looks to the state for their sustenance?
Same as we see with business. Why take correct actions when gov't absorbs your big losses from big risks?

We still have individualism, we still have liberty in this country. We still can express our thoughts with no restraints and freedom expression has not dwindled imo. IMO the government is just screwing the people. It's not even socialism because socialism at least gives some money to the poor. When we have stoplights with cameras, a person getting fined for J walking, or being fined for having too many employees, that's not a benefit for anyone, that's just government screwing the people.

This is raising the level of the debate in this country by leaps and bounds. Individualism and self interest results in responsibility and moral character. Absolution of all personal responsibility undermines basic morals and creates exactly the environment these gentlemen are talking about. The entire moral character of the nation is turning on individualism. We need to counter that.
