Princess Tiana/Prince Naveen's message to Rose

I had Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen (from the Princess and the Frog) record a little message for my friend Rose Marie who didn't go to Disney World with me.

@petrino #random For the record, he is from an imaginary country called Maldonia. Disney has no black princes. His race is never actually explained; however, the voice of his character is Brazilian which would explain both his accent in the movie as well as in this video. :) Just clearing up confusion!

I would imagine the main reason he was made out to be a different race than black/white is so he didn't appear to "belong" more with either of the female characters in the movie who may have ended up marrying him. This nationality keeps him more racially neutral so to speak.

I have fallen in LOVE with this movie just recently after my 10 month old started staring at it anytime I put it on. Best characters in a Disney movie in a long time!

One time, when I met Tiana & Naveen, I told them about how I saw their story one Christmas and afterwards I had some sushi. I learned that Naveen doesn't like sushi. I guess he prefers beignets. LOL
