I'm assuming the guitar player you think looks like Neil Young is the one on the right - he is Ed Mundell from Monster Magnet, who isn't in Sasquatch but plays with them occasionally - and they covered this very song on their first album.

This is a cover song by a band that worships Grand Funk. Nobody is trying to fool anybody. The effect is to actually turn more people on to Mark's music.

It's a Grand Funk Railroad song "Sin's A Good Man's Brother" from their Closer To Home LP. Mark Farner is a massive Rock N Roller.
