@rkchen they asked because it is very rare to meet an Asian Mormon.
I know a couple Chinese who are also Jewish. One was adopted by Jewish parents, the other converted to Judaism through marriage to her ex-husband. They got asked the same questions all the time.

@ktchong Well, if they thought I was kidding, they probably should ask that. But usually it's with astonishment. I was asked am I sure from the same person 3 times during a dinner. And if people want to know about my upbringing, they can ask that, too. But you don't ask someone who is Catholic if their parents are Catholic. You ask if they were raised Catholic. I love questions about my beliefs, and I'm not offended by those questions. I just wish people would ask those questions.
