IASA = interruptible as soon as. IASA frames are important because rather than going through the whole lag animation, you can cut the animation by doing an attack, shielding, or jumping. In Melee, for example, Marth's DTilt had very early IASA frames, allowing you to skip his drawback animation (pulling back his arm) almost entirely. (He still has this in Brawl.) This was not in Melee; landing lag did not have IASA frames. The video shows how Ike has IASA frames on his landing lag. For FAir, note how Ike cancels the animation in which he draws back his arm. I also tested Ganondorf, and he also has IASA frames on his landing lag, as well as Samus, who doesn't seem to have IASA frames.

IASA frames are really easy to test - all you have to do is just hold shield while you land.
