"Point your feet!"

Here we have the last few frames from the Monday trios match. As well as myself, there's a little footage of Bernie and Jeff on the opposing team.

Again, I'm using the dry-lane ball, but still manage to pull it in the first frame. Note the use of the plastic ball for sparing the 3-10 mini-split. You need a bit of deflection to spare this one. There are a couple of great pocket strikes in this video... and a couple of not so great strikes too!

Remember to always point your feet towards your mark when you're standing on the approach, and then walk towards your mark. This is especially important for cross lane spares, but don't understimate it's importance in the strikes too. Take a look at my turkey starting at around 1:25. The first is a nice flush pocket ball, but the second at 1:49 is a lucky Brooky. You'll see my feet are pointing down the middle of the lane. This error (coupled with poor balance) is why I pulled the ball. Now watch my last strike in the video. In this one, you'll see my feet are pointing towards second arrow when I reach the foul line. The ball follows the same track, which is just what we want.

  • Just come out of the ball flatter (i.e. with the thumb more clockwise) and try to apply less lift with the fingers. And make sure you follow through straight.

  • Gotta love HollyWood Bowl, awesome bowling alley in West Yorkshire :D

  • that hurt to watch.

  • That's a sweet spare of the corner pin. I can never get that one. And my ball dont turn nearly as much as yours. How do you change how much it turns like that?

  • Looking good man. I can never get the 10 pin. And I never knew that about the feet.
