  • All please don't lobby your opinions on breed standards here.

If you have opinions place them in the appropriate forums. KCA, KC-UK, breed club websites.

As you know we show our dogs for fun and our dogs come first and foremost.

Bella - If you have looked at our photos - George has his hair tied up while not at a show.

I will remove any lobbying posted here.

  • his tail is awfully long...

  • In Britain now, it is illegal to dock tails. There is no kennel club rule that says how long it should be, only that it should not curl around on itself like a pigs one.

None of the judges at shows we have bene to have commented on Georges's tail length so it must be fine.

  • How tall should a wheaten b? I'd had mine for a while now and he seems kinda short (from what I can remember with him next to his mom), while he turned a year old july 1, 2008. So what I am asking is how tall should one b, and do most people feel like that about their dog's height?

  • Officially the kennel club say "19 inches at the withers" for an adult dog, bitches slightly smaller say 17 inches - so stand him up straight and mark at his shoulder blades near his head against a wall. George is 18.5 inches. But at the dog shows we've known puppies bigger than George and some bitches too.

  • George is cute! Mine wheaten, Albert, stretches like that all the time!

  • May I ask what you feed your dogs/pups for such wonderful coat, muscle and energy??I am getting a pup next month (10 wks old) I want to give him a wonderful chance to be all he can and I think his diet will help...THanks!

  • wow he was a real beuty!

  • What a cute Wheaten!

  • I have a Wheaten Terrier and she's amazing with strangers, there is something known as the "wheaten greeting"...they tend to jump but on strangers, but it's all playful and never aggressive. My nieces are around her all the time, they are 2 and 5 and she's just very loving and has never shown any aggressive tendencies, it is good to train them very early.

  • iv had a wheaten terrier for just over 6 years now and i can honestly say that they will keep you amused. mine has the best character, that you would never imagine a dog to have. mine was a bit of a handfull for the first few years, but there all different i guess. i wud recommend a wheaten terrier to anyone who can look after it properly, i.e. proper walking, grooming etc... you will soon love this dog more than your wife!!!! also they are fairly expensive, but very much worth it.

  • they are VERY good with strangers they (wheatn terriers) love to greet people. Wheatens are pretty good with babies they just jump on new strangers and they are very good watch dogs. They would be good in apartments, you just have to take them out to play and run. So I hope that answers your questions.

  • HI, im moving soon to a big appartament, are they good in apartaments?, my wife wants a dog i also want one, she wants a bolognese, and i want a westy, but i was checking ur video and other with the Wheaten Terrier and is just perfect i love it, would you tell me if hes good with babies and strangers ? and all u think i need to knwo about it ?? please ?

  • ypbohyn - Maybe you should actually check out the breed standard before posting a comment about tail length.

George's tail looks to be the correct length for an undocked Wheaten.

He has obviously got a real wheaten character, what a lovely boy!
