Are you really that narrow-minded, man? Anyone who holds an opposing point of view is a leftist? Do you even know the true definition of a leftist? Regular liberals are not leftists. Leftists are guys like Michael Moore or Noam Chomsky.

one more thing... You can't make the case that someone is disadvantaged because they are a minority. (It is possible to say that there SIGNIFICANTLY MORE disadvantaged minorities than white people). However, you CAN make the case that someone who grows up in a poor environment/ with low income, is disadvantaged, and should be given accomodations. Fuck YAF... that is all.

This way we are providing opportunities to all marginalized/disadvantaged people without technically considering race. The fact that it would mainly help minorities would be a positive externality (as they should be helped).
I know YOU may think its your right to be considered over caucasions... but why should I, someone who has only been kind and proactive, bear the weight of a race based policy.

Okay, I hate YAF just as much as you do... and I agree that the history of racism in America has been the cause of much strife and economic desparation within minority communities... Let me propose a different idea- income based affirmative action/ or affirmative action which is targeted towards a particular inner city demographics...

GRG - how long do you think people should be allowed to feed from the affirmative action trough? Why do so many people of color succeed withouth the help of affirmative action - were they somehow not affected by Jim Crow, etc? You have a problem of underdetermination, while past racism may be a part of the reason some blacks don't succeed it cannot be the only reason because many do succeed on their own.

Not even 50 years ago, minorities weren't allowed to do even the most basic things in this country (such as sit where they want, eat where they want, or even VOTE). So considering that the mentality that was placed upon us still isn't old enough to retire, we don't need, but better yet DESERVE affirmative action.
