Last fall we visited the Willy Street Fair in Madison, WI, and among the delights of music, a parade (with giant puppets), and food, we were asked to sign a petition by members of South Central Wisconsin Move to Amend (SCWMTA), who spearhead local efforts to roll back the effects of the Supreme Court's decision in favor of Citizens United, giving corporations the same status as persons. The petition states:

"An amendment to the US Constitution is needed.

Should the United States Constitution be amended to establish that regulating political contributions and spending is not equivalent to limiting freedom of speech, by stating that only human beings, not corporations, are entitled to constitutional rights?"

Move to Amend gathered 20K signatures to put a referendum on Dane County and City of Madison April 5 Ballots.

In the last week of the campaign I developed this PSA, putting faces to the players in the Citizens United case.

Both referendums passed by 75% margin in Dane County; 85% margin in Madison.
