The Bridges to the Future Initiative (BFI-SA) is an innovative project designed to utilize multimedia-based information and communications technologies (ICT) in local languages to promote literacy and other learning skills in South Africa. The project will be implemented initially in multiple sites in Limpopo Province as a model for replication more broadly. BFI-SA is a collaborative multi-agency partnership under the overall sponsorship of the Department of Education.
Multimedia materials for literacy learning and information resources have been developed in Sepedi, Tshivenda, xiTsonga, and English, aligned with ABET levels 1 through 3, including digital literacy skills. It is expected that the initial prototype evaluation in Limpopo will lead to its expansion in other provinces. The project will build upon an installed ICT infrastructure in a mix of ABET centres, secondary schools, Multi-Purpose Community Centres (MPCCs), Educational Multi-Purpose Centres (EMPCs) and other sites.
In sum, the BFI-SA:
Addresses the digital divide of education and technology by improving literacy, basic education, and technological literacy, thereby assisting the learners to better determine their own social and economic future.
Delivers through a partnership of public and private entities as well as national and international agencies and foundations.
Leverages information and communications technologies.
Is adapted to diverse contexts and diverse learners.
@Sphamandlaful The BFI-SA program includes a custom-developed basic computer literacy tutorial that proved to be highly effective and enjoyed by learners. Techniques, such as drag-and-drop, are practiced through interactive games. The BFI-SA program therefore has the additional benefit of providing basic computer literacy skills to learners.

Technology providing a positive effect among our fellow neighbours and friends. Technology is obviously the way forward at this point in time almost everything on television today appears to be on the net especially events . But on the down side some schools don't have people to teach kids the basics of computers so they will find it very hard to adapt to such programs
