@RWL2011 oh and breaking in is only really necessary with super tough very high powered subs like SPL competition subs, the spider (often multiple spiders) need to be loosened to avoid damage. with a halfords jobbie its really not necessary cos being a low powered sub the construction is meant to be loose anyway in order to be efficient (to move easily with low power). high powered subs are tough so they don't overexcurse

@ChrisCool the soft yellow "rings" that are joined together and attached to the voice coil on the inside and the basket on the outside, its what keeps the woofer's motion linear. i don't know why its called a "spider" but it is!

1600w peak means nothing electrically. 550w RMS is what the sub can handle, if this is one of the active ones the amp is probably not doing 550w RMS

its this lanzar or other brand

dat means its probly even cheaper elsewhere
When you bought this sub brand new did you have to play it at a low volume for a while to soften the rubber?

no i had it on full blast as soon as i got it lol. after a few months youll get bored of the loud bass and put the volume down to a reasonable volume anyway

@ChrisCool its not the surround that softens during break-in. its the spider (suspension)
